Counselling for Couples
Creating and managing a loving relationship is an art that can take time.
Patience, trust, self-respect and the willingness to work at communicating clearly to your partner, Including the readiness to listen as well as to express yourself and speak your needs are all likely to be involved.
There are times in a relationship where it can be great to have an ally to hand to help a couple move through the blocks and misunderstandings that may have built up and find a new way ahead.
Couple counselling can meet this need and provide the support and facilitation to get the relationship back on track. I work to help a couple to speak to each other and listen with respect and care so that they can begin to dialogue together with openness and with understanding.
A contract will be made to meet the particular needs of the couple, most often a block of six or twelve sessions. The work will be kept under review until the couple feel they have what they need.
Sessions run for one hour and usually take place once a week.
I draw on psychodynamic models of marital therapy and the Milan method as well as psychosynthesis.
